Sleeping in Singapore Changi Airport

Changi is one of the world’s easiest airports to sleep in, and the only real question is how much comfort you want to pay for. The scale runs from free recliners to a hotel bed a few metres from your gate.

Free: Snooze Lounges

All four terminals have free Snooze Lounges airside: dedicated zones of reclining lounge chairs, open 24/7, no booking possible. They are the standard choice for a medium layover on a budget. Bring an eye mask and expect company; the lounges are popular and the terminal lights never fully dim. Our sleep pods and rest zones guide maps the paid step up from a recliner.

Airside beds: the Changi Transit Hotels

For an actual bed without clearing immigration, the Changi Transit Hotel in Terminal 1 (formerly Aerotel) and the Changi Transit Hotels in Terminals 2 and 3 (formerly Ambassador Transit) sell rooms in 6-hour blocks around the clock. Budget rooms with shared bathrooms are the cheapest private sleep in the airport; the Terminal 1 property adds an outdoor pool. Book 3 to 4 weeks ahead for busy periods, and do not pass through immigration on arrival.

Landside: YOTELAIR in Jewel

YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport rents compact cabins on Level 4 of Jewel, by the night or by the hour in the daytime. It requires clearing immigration, which suits arriving passengers, anyone starting a journey, or transit passengers whose passport allows entry and who want the Rain Vortex with their rest.

When a full hotel makes more sense

For overnights longer than about ten hours, a full room often costs little more than two transit-hotel blocks: the Crowne Plaza is a covered walk from Terminal 3, and Village Hotel Changi or Dorsett Changi City trade a short ride for lower rates and full facilities. Compare them in our day rooms guide if your stay is inside a single day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sleep for free in Changi Airport?

Yes. Free Snooze Lounges with reclining chairs operate airside in all four terminals, 24 hours a day, and the airport itself runs around the clock. They are recliners in a public area, not beds, and they fill up on busy nights.

Is Changi open overnight?

Yes, the terminals operate 24 hours. Transit passengers can stay airside overnight; landside areas, including Jewel's shops, close at night even though the buildings remain accessible.

What is the cheapest real bed inside the airport?

The budget rooms with shared bathrooms at the Changi Transit Hotels, sold in 6-hour blocks airside in Terminals 1, 2 and 3. YOTELAIR in Jewel is the landside alternative.
