Jewel Changi on a Layover
Jewel is the reason a Changi layover can feel like a destination: a ten-storey garden dome built around the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, directly connected to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. One caveat governs everything else: Jewel is landside, so visiting means clearing immigration.
The Rain Vortex and Canopy Park
The Rain Vortex pours seven storeys through the centre of the dome and is free to watch from every level; evening light shows add the spectacle. On Level 5, the Canopy Park collects the paid attractions (bridges, mazes, slides) and opens 10:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 10:00 am to 10:00 pm Friday to Sunday, holiday eves and public holidays.
Eating, resting and showering
Jewel’s food halls run from hawker names to international chains, a better spread than any single terminal. For rest, YOTELAIR on Level 4 rents cabins by the night or from four daytime hours, and the Changi Lounge on Level 1 sells sit-down lounge access with Energy Pods at about SGD 22 per hour. Plan around one closure: the Changi Lounge showers are unavailable until 15 November 2026; the showers guide lists alternatives.
How much time you need
From Terminal 1, Jewel adjoins the arrival hall; from Terminals 2 and 3, link bridges take 5 to 10 minutes. Counting immigration both ways and a security re-clear, treat five hours as the working minimum for a connection, more at peak times. Airside-only or short connections are better spent in the free Snooze Lounges or a transit hotel block; see sleeping in Changi.
